This landmark restaurant is world-famous for its chili cheese dogs.  The Varsity is a classic collegiate diner and serves a variety of straight-forward, fast-food fare.  Be prepared for large crowds as the Varsity is a favorite of college students, young families, and tourists alike.

Old Standbys

Located in a wooded, riverside setting, Canoe serves fine American cuisine with a Southern touch. The dinner menu varies seasonally with entrees varying in price from $15 to $20.  Complement your meal with a selection from the extensive wine list or a dessert creation of the dedicated pastry chef.

Daddy D'z
Barbecue, beer, and blues are all served up at Daddy D'z.  Slabs of ribs and traditional side dishes like potato salad dominate the menu with some new variations like barbecue eggrolls. Daddy D'z also has live blues music on occasion.  The most expensive item is the full slab of spare ribs for about $15, but most full meals will cost about $10 or less.

Atkins Park
Atkins Park is equally adept at appetizers and beer or a sit-down family dinner. The menu ranges from a burger and fries to a sweet onion and mushroom tartlet. A variety of seafood, salads, and other non-traditional bar fare are served.  A big burger costs around $7 and most dinner entrees range between $11 and $18.

Cafe Sunflower
Cafe Sunflower is known for its inventive and varied Vegetarian cuisine. The menu items take their influence from many styles including Chinese, Indian, Mexican, and Italian.  The average dinner at Cafe Sunflower should cost between $10 and $15.

Hip & Trendy

Buckhead Diner
The theme of a classic diner taken to ritzy elegance is reflected in the decor and the cuisine of the Buckhead Diner. For example, a standard diner sandwich like the Reuben is served on brioche with a Cuban spice preparation.  Most of the menu follows suit and a typical meal will cost between $15 - $25.

BluePointe serves fine Asian Fusion cuisine. The restaurant's architecture and interior design match the very contemporary nature of the menu.  Since this is also one of Atlanta's trendiest new restaurants, advanced reservations are highly recommended.  With appetizers, dessert, and a drink, a meal can cost between $35 and $50.

At Dish, one of Atlanta's newer restaurants, the menu consists of contemporary American cuisine with a variety of foreign influences.  Though certainly up to the quality standards of formal dining, Dish has a relaxed mood. One can go there for just an appetizer or dessert after a night on the town, or sit down for a complete dining experience. A typical entree goes for $15.

Cafe Tu Tu Tango
This hipster hangout for "those in the know" is recognized as much for its art as its food. Depending on the view, which varies according to the floor you're seated on, you can peoplewatch or spy on an artist as they work. Full meals are available, but many prefer to snack on the small personal pizzas and various tapas appetizers.  The tapas all cost less than $10, but the bill can grow quickly with multiple appetizers and drinks.

Posh & Pricey

Seeger's serves fine European/Asian cuisine in an elegant, formal setting. The menu is organized into five or eight course meals with a variety of options for appetizers, entrees, and desserts. The five course is currently priced at $62 and the eight course is $80, with wine adding around $50 to the bill.  It is recommended that reservations be made at least 2 days ahead of time.

The Abbey Restaurant
Housed in an expansive former church, everything about the Abbey connotes European elegance. The menu consists of French Continental cuisine with variations on traditional favorites like a seared foie-gras or Australian lamb chops. The dessert menu includes a variety of tarts, mousses, and cakes and the wine cellar is vast. A typical entree will cost between $20 to $30 and wine, appetizers, and dessert could easily triple that amount. Reservations are recommended.

Traditionalists who appreciate aged cuts of red meat and an extensive wine list should enjoy a meal at Bone's. The decor is traditional as well, being dominated by leather upholstery and wood trim. Depending on the cut, dinner for two should cost between $40 and $60 without drinks.

Pano's and Paul’s Buckhead
This four star restaurant serves innovative American/Continental cuisine.  The design, decor, and seating all suggest traditional, formal elegance. Fine steaks and lobster serve as the backbone of the dinner menu, but a wide variety of choices is available. A full meal with drinks goes for $30 - $50 per head.
